What is the best way to sell sports cards?

I used to collect sports cards as a kid. I have thousands now, most of which I do not care to maintain and are just taking up space. I'm pretty sure some of them are good, so I'd like to sell them. What is the best way to do that? Through eBay? Amazon? In a sports store or library? I mostly like to get rid of them, but I want Jippe not get together. Any recommendation or advice would be appreciated. People do not publish announcements of sports cards in newspapers and supermarkets here.
