Am I still responsible for paying the vet bills for my cat that I gave to a new home?
I was moving from MA to MN and wanted to find a new home for my cat Chloe. My ex wanted to keep Chloe so they do not have to go to a strange place. Six months later Chloe is working with Lucas, the cat of 15 years who is my ex. Chloe was taken to the vet for tests to see what is wrong with her. (she is two now) My ex wants to give me money * * Complimentary for the vet bill. Any amount of the $ 170 you want to pay. What do you think I should do? I feel the ex is not going to put this to the vet and let that bill for now. She did not have much money, but the shops on ebay for posters and jerseys of their favorite singer. I think that's where the money goes to. What do you think? I would never have brought Chloe to the vet to do what cats do age 2 years.
You are absolutely NOT required to pay bill Chloe's veterinarian. You gave up ownership of Chloe. His ex assumes all responsibility for Chloe when she insisted that she keep her avoid going to put a "stranger". If it's up to you, Chloe would have a new family – that would be responsible for vet bills. Chloe is not your cat that are not on track for primary caregivers. Your ex is your single source and therefore solely responsible for their welfare – including health and all bills arising. His ex must think you are some kind of idiot. "Courtesy of money?" Ha! Nice try.
