How much do musicians make off of concert tee shirt sales?
What percentage of ticket sales, tee shirts and other memorabilia do musicians take home while on tour?
The normals are as follows…. Shows are a predetermined set price that is agreed upon by either your management or by the band prior to playing that venue. You are pay, after you are done playing…That money needs to pay your sound, lights and schlpers….
T-Shirt, posters, CD sales, ect…, when the band puts up their own money to pay for these upfront….100% pure profit for the band….
This is for your small time local or state(s) wide tour…
Now…for the big National acts…On the big tours….It has, normaly, nothing to do with sales…It all contracted, regardless of ticket and/or CD sales…and varies depending on number of shows, record label, travel expenses, lodgin….so many varibles…I have know some people that brerak even after ‘the big tour’ and some that lose money, and the lucky ones that have a couple thousand after a good tour, and then the rare ones, that end up with milions….But those rare ones, have already paid their ‘touring dues’
